The adjudicator is the interface between the file
server where the database is located and the Front End Processor.
Its main purpose is to process the drug claims being sent from the
Front End Processor or from any other terminals. It is running on
Windows 2000 Professional with the latest Service Pack. See
Appendix D for files needed on the Adjudicator machine. Optimize also the machine for speed and performance. For detailed
instructions on how to install Windows 2000 Pro, see your
installation manual or ask your System Administrator for assistance.
Make sure also that the adjudicator workstation will participate in
the Domain created by the file server installation (for Windows 2000
Server).
The domain name for DPRX teleclaim system is "DPRX_PROD".
Participating on this domain is done during installation or after
installation. If the machine that needs to join this domain is
already installed with Windows 2000 Professional Edition, then you can join
the domain by following this procedure: |
|
|
| Joining
a Windows NT Server Domain
|
 |
Right Click on "My
Computer" and select "properties" |
 |
Click on the Network
Identification tab. (See Figure 3) |
|

|
|
Figure 3. System Properties Dialog Box |
|
On the Network Identification tab, you can see the
Full computer name and the Domain of the current machine. Click on
the "Properties" button to change the domain.
|
|
In the "Member of" option, click on
the "Domain" radio button and enter the appropriate
domain name. In our case, this is "DPRX_PROD". (See
Figure 4)
|
|

|
|
Figure 4 |
 |
If you are participating in a domain, the
"Create a Computer Account in the Domain" check box is
enabled. Check that box because we want to participate in the
domain. |
 |
Fill up the "User Name" and the
"Password". Make sure that the username you will use
has administrative rights on the domain controller, otherwise
this will not work. |
 |
If there is an error that says "No domain
controller available", check your network settings and
cables. Try to have a conservative settings on your network
card. If ever I get this error, I usually set my network card
speed to 10Mbps Half Duplex. This will usually help in trouble
shooting the network error. If everything else don’t work, ask
assistance from your network administrator. |
 |
If everything is right and the computer can
locate the domain controller, you will be welcome to the current
domain. The next time you’ll boot up, you can log on to this
domain controller. |
| |
| Login
onto the Windows NT Domain Server |
| After you
successfully joined the domain, you need to restart your computer
for the changes to take effect. On the login screen use the
username/password that we created on the server on this computer.
For the adjudicator, use the username "adjwinnt" and
supply the right password. If everything is configured properly, the
login script that is placed on the File Server will be executed. New
drives will be map on the Adjudicator machine. Be sure that the
drives indicated are properly mapped otherwise you’ll get an error
during the adjudication process. The computer name on your
installation may differ from that on the figure but the shared
folders should be the same. See Figure 6.
Please note that whether you’re using Windows NT
Server or Novel Netware Server, the drive mappings and the
environment variable settings should be the same for both
configurations. |

Environment Variables |
| |
| Test the
configuration by opening up a command prompt window (like DOS prompt
or Cmd.exe) and type in "set" and press the enter key.
Environment variables are initialized during the log on process and
you can see something like the one in Figure 7. |
|

|
|
Figure 7 (Environment variables
initialized during login) |
The following
environment variables are initialized by the login script which is
part of the DPRX Teleclaim System:
- COMPUTERNAME=WINNT_ADJUD
- DURLOCKER=adjwinnt
- DURPATH=k:\
- FEPLOCKER=adjwinnt
- FEPPATH=g:\
- GROUP=0
- HOMEDRIVE=c:\
- HOMEPATH=\
- Logdata=Q:\log.dbf
- LOGONSERVER=\\DPRX_NT
- PSTATIONID=WINNT_ADJUD
- USER=adjwinnt
- USERDOMAIN=DPRX_PROD
- USERNAME=adjwinnt
The network drive mappings and the setting of
environment variables is the work of the Kix32.exe and its
associated files discussed earlier in the section if you are using
Windows NT Server. If you are usinf Novell Netware Server, the login
script is all you need. Novell Netware 3.12 or higher does not need
any support files and libraries to mapped network drives and to set
environment variables. The other environment variables are generated
by Windows NT during startup and should not be alter. |

| Folders,
applications, files on the Adjudicator Machine |
| |
| There are
folders and sub-folders which should be created on the Adjudicator
machine depending on the requirement of the system. See Figure 8. |
|

|
|
Figure 8 (Content of Adjudicator
machine) |
| Pay particular
attention to the "programs.w32" folder. This contains the
applications and support files for adjudicating drug claims.
Other folders which contain other information are:
- C:\Lastmth
- C:\Mastfile
- C:\Transact

the Adjudicator Application |
| |
|
Once everything is setup and all the
necessary folders are created and files are copied to the
Adjudicator machine, the adjudication can be tested by running the
application. First open up a Command Prompt by clicking on Start
> Programs > Command Prompt. A DOS like window will open up.
Change the current directory to "C:\Programs.w32", type in
"wadjud.bat" and press the enter key. The adjudicator
application will start like the one shown in Figure 9. |
